A Little Bit of Alright
Joe D'Urso, of Stone Caravan fame, approached me late in 2007 and decided he wanted to make a record with me before I go and die again. We enlisted Darren Lunar as the sound engineer and booked time at R&R Studios in West Nyack, NY and then went to work......every tuesday night.
I was fortunate that many of my friends were able to participate, some great musicians played some great music. Dave McKeon, Craig Sheppard, Dave Gross, John Milligan, Pat Keating, to name a few. I also recorded a few songs with two different established bands, Blue Plate Special and McMule!
"A Little Bit of Alright" contains 12 songs, including two originals and two wrtitten by friends. Also included are some of my favorites, songs that I have been playing live forever. here's the line up with some notes.
Happiness (Leezas Song) an original
Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone an old standard from Doug Sahm & the Texas Tornados
Brokedown Slaid Cleaves wrote this one, he got me a gig last year!
Central Line My friend Chihoe Hahn composed this, performed with Blue Plate Special
Wondering Where the Lions Are Mike "Zwiggy" Zweigbaum takes over this song written by Bruce Cockburn
Keeping Score An original written with John Milligan and performed with McMule.
Are My Thoughts With You I've been playing this since the 70's, Mike Conlon taught this to me.
Gold I got to do this one with the incredible Pat Keating, my musical godfather , back up vocals by Mike Quinn, Joe D'Urso & Craig Sheppard.
Killing Me another old favorite, Phil Cross, John Milligan and I have been doing this Aztec Two Step song for years!
Where'd you hide the body A James McMurtry tune performed with McMule
No Place to Go A murder ballad written by Dave Gross and performed with Blue Plate Special. Ken Harten is on the spanish guitar
